Forbes Magazine posted an article, on April 27, 2011, Top Executive Recruiters Agree There Are Only Three True Job Interviewing Questions, which provides the opinions of top executive recruiters to answer the question. You can read the full article here.
In the estimation of these top head hunters, the three questions are:
- Can you do the job?
- Will you love the job?
- Can we tolerate working with you?
EOS implementers suggest that Fit is determining whether or not the candidate embraces the company Core Values. Assuming you have documented your Core Values and are living them, you should expect that these Core Values attract the right people and repulse the wrong people. In the Forbes article mentioned above there are questions you can click through to help determine fit. But we think there is a simpler way. Just define your values during the interview process with stories and passion and explain that all employees are expected to exhibit those values almost all of the time (no one is perfect). Make it clear that failing to exhibit them most of the time will be grounds for dismissal. People who fit with you will be excited and the others will want to run out of your door. See my earlier blog post for a more detailed explanation of Core Values analysis in the People Analyzer tool.EOS presumes you are employing questions and tests to determine Strengths and Motivation. We simply say that you should test for GWC. Does the candidate Get it, Want it, and have the Capacity to do the job. See another earlier blog post for a more detailed explanation of GWC.
